NWOAHM: 36 Crazyfists – A Snow Capped Romance
If we are talking about ‘kids’ of the hardcore genre, we should talk about 36 Crazyfists. They came up the same moment bands like Killswitch Engage and God Forbid came up, but their sound was kind of hardcore with nu-metal chorusses. The core of the music was definitely hardcore with very very coldhearted screams on top of it. This band from Alaska had a very special vocal style and the music itself leaned towards nu-metal in a lot of ways, but it was just so much louder. IN 2003 they released their second album on Roadrunner Records and scored a modest hit with ‘Bloodwork’. The video got a lot of airplay on MTV2 at the time and they were quickly categorized as a metalcore-band and as a part of the NWOAHM. I don’t completely agree with this, but ‘A Snow Capped Romance’ became on of my favorite metalcore albums of all time. Every song is great, the tracklisting is great and they style is unique. If you don’t know this album you should really bring it into your life, it gives me goosebumps every time.
